1. Introduction

Welcome to NextPlay (we, our, or us). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application NextPlay (the App).

Please read this policy carefully. By using NextPlay, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Game lists: Games you add to Want to Play, Playing, and Played lists.
Ratings: Personal star ratings you assign to games.
Platform and genre preferences: Selected during onboarding and adjustable in Settings.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Anonymous User ID: A unique anonymous identifier via Supabase when you first open the App. This does not include your name or email address unless you choose to sign in.
Game search queries: Searches you perform within the App to find games.
App usage data: Screens visited, features used, and interactions within the App, collected via PostHog analytics.
Subscription status: Whether you are a free or premium user, managed via RevenueCat.
Crash reports and diagnostics: Technical data to help us identify and fix errors.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect your real name, email address, or phone number unless you voluntarily provide them.
We do not collect precise GPS location data.
We do not collect payment card information. All payments are processed by Apple App Store, Google Play, or RevenueCat.
We do not collect contacts, photos, or files from your device.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features.
Generate game recommendations via the Play Next feature.
Sync your game lists and preferences across sessions.
Analyze usage patterns to improve the App (via PostHog).
Manage your premium subscription status (via RevenueCat).
Display relevant advertisements to free users (via Google AdMob).
Respond to support requests and feedback.
Comply with legal obligations.

4. Third-Party Services

NextPlay integrates the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

Supabase (Database and Authentication)

Stores your game lists, ratings, and anonymous user profile. Privacy policy: https://supabase.com/privacy

IGDB / Twitch (Game Data)

PostHog (Analytics)

Collects anonymized usage data to help us understand how the App is used. Privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy

RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

Manages your premium subscription. RevenueCat receives your App Store or Google Play purchase token. Privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

Google AdMob (Advertising)

Displays banner advertisements to free users. AdMob may use device identifiers to show relevant ads. Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers: With third-party vendors (listed in Section 4) who assist in operating the App.
Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We will provide notice before this occurs.
Protection of Rights: To protect the rights, property, or safety of NextPlay, our users, or others.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data via Settings > Delete Account, or by emailing support@nextplay.app.
Opt-out of analytics: You may opt out of PostHog analytics in Settings.
Ad preferences: You may limit ad tracking via your device settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking; Android: Settings > Google > Ads).

8. Children's Privacy

NextPlay is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption for all data in transit and secure cloud storage via Supabase. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Users

NextPlay is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact support@nextplay.app.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the Last Updated date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
